As we visited during off season most of the restaurants were closed and Masala Fort was very near to our home-stay. It was really convenient to have our lunch and dinner there, as we were traveling with a 2.5 year old. Other than the aspect of its proximity, the taste of the food and hygiene made us stick to it for the entire stay.

Food Variety :

And its a multi-cuisine restaurant, so we could try new variety of item in every meal. Some times we opted for North Indian style of Rice, Dal, Butter Chicken and another time we tried authentic Kerala Thali meal. We also tried Pasta and Sizzlers. In every meal we tried a new cuisine and the taste was great.

Taste:

The spice quantity was perfect in every item, my daughter could have it without any issues. And every thing was freshly made with fresh ingredients. The flavor was great for the price and I won’t say its Gourmet style food, but it will definitely make your stomach full without burning a hole in your pocket. Every item has the right taste and some items were really yummy like the Chocolate Samosas, which I tried for first time.

Ambience:

The look and feel was very relaxed and casual. It didn’t had the stiffness of a fine-dining (if I may say so, traveling with a toddler, fine-dining is the last thing on my mind). The interiors were made with wood and gave Kerala feel to it. At night the ambiance is really great and I loved the big windows overlooking the street. There is a sitting area and a Table with some books. If you want you can just sit there, relax and sip a drink while reading a book.

Location:

The Resturant is located in a prime area in Fort Kochi,i.e. on Princess street which goes towards the beach and Chinese fishing nets. So its easy to locate and its also very near to many hotels and home-stays.

Hygiene:

This is one of the important criteria for me when traveling with a kid. The food was prepared hygienically and the restaurant is always neat and clean. That’s why we went there atleast for 1-2 meal in a day.

Service :

The staff were very helpful to tourists, giving additional information about the place. They were also prompt in the service making our experience really great.

Price:

The items were very reasonably priced. And every time we had our meal there, the average cost was around Rs.500 for our family (for 2 adult and one toddler). And it was same for any type of cuisine we ordered, Indian, Italian or Continental.

Rating:

I would give them 4/5

Recommend:

Yes definitely, do visit Masala Fort just for the quaint little place it is, and to have your comfy food.
